About Me

Tammy LettsI find I am constantly awed by God's grace in my life and am so grateful when others discover the same love of God over and over again. After spending almost 20 years of serving in congregations, my heart has a special desire to reach women in all walks of life. Preaching, speaking, teaching, leading groups, Bible studies, all bring such a sense of joy. As a community of women, nothing is more life-giving than together being in the presence of God and finding new levels of intimacy with Him through Jesus Christ. By opening God's word together, we are reawakened to the movement and power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We are changed forever. To know the love of Christ is my passion. To share the love of Christ is my calling. To be in His presence with other women is sheer grace.

Faith Journey

Tammy LettsI was born in Berkeley California, where I lived for my first nine years.  We moved to Colorado Springs, CO in 1969, where my parents still reside.  I had the privilege of growing up in a beautiful Christian home.  My father, Bob Mitchell, served with Young Life for 40 plus years, with many of those years as president.  My mother, Claudia, was a Bible study leader and an active counselor and supporter in the organization.

Both parents have remained involved in active Christian ministry, with my father currently serving as an interim Presbyterian pastor.  My family was active in Presbyterian churches throughout my life.  I was fortunate to grow up hearing Dr. Bob Munger and Dr. John Stevens as my pastors, with Dr. Jim Edwards as my high school pastor.

I can only say that my personal relationship with our Lord began at a very young age, attending church regularly, and growing up at YL summer camps and high school clubs.  I committed my life to be Christ’s disciple when I was 12 year old.  At that time, Young Life was my primary source for nurture and spiritual discipleship, especially since my dad was my YL leader.  As a high school student, I was also deeply influenced by Dr. Darrell Guder (a current professor at Princeton Theological Seminary), who was my campaigner/ Bible study leader.  Through his encouragement, I began to entertain the idea of going to seminary, with the hopes of serving Young Life in their partnership with the German church.

This may sound a bit strange, but during my senior year of college, I recall (and firmly believe) the Lord spoke to me through a vision to follow Him into full-time ministry.  Because of my parachurch background, I was deeply surprised to find myself being called to the pastorate.  But I believe in the transforming mission of God.  Before I knew it, I became actively involved with a dynamic Presbyterian church in La Canada, CA with Rev. Dr. Gary Demarest and Rev. Dr. Roberta Hestenes as pastors.  It was there I joined the church and got baptized, since I had not “officially” been a part of a family of faith.  I served there as a youth intern for two years.

I met and married Tom Letts in 1982, while we were both in seminary.  We were ordained together and have been partners in ministry for the last 20 years.

Over the years, my ministries have included youth ministry, adult ministry, women’s ministry, retired persons, volunteers, leadership development, camping, retreats, missions, children’s, and general pastoral ministry.  My journey with Christ has been and is one that is filled with great joy and great transformation.  It has led me on paths I never would have dreamed.  That path has been intercepted with so many wonderful, holy others along the way.  These people have led, guided, pushed, counseled, modeled, encouraged, and shoved me along.

Yet I know that my walk with Christ has been a very personal and an intentional one, step by step.  I hold firmly to the nurturing of the spiritual disciplines; i.e. prayer, silence, worship, service, and study.  Every day, every moment, is one that I try and see filled with the presence of God.  Every difficulty, every challenge, every blessing are gifts of grace to be embraced and treasured.  I continue to learn how the Lord has granted me the very real power of His presence to transform my life for His purpose.  It’s all grace, you know.  I have been given a beautiful past with incredibly rich experiences.  I also know that God is reaching even further into my life, lovingly shaping me to be in union with Him.

There is forgiveness yet to be experienced, love yet to be shared, and faith yet to be explored.
